Conceptual memory of the work:

Xavier Martin on this project was inspired by the firm and smoothness skin, delicate. For this reason we have a sensory space where the various elements create a sense of being inside an organic and involving environment.
Both structural elements as the walls come alive and move with the presence of curved lines all the way, creating together with a careful treatment of light, a sinuous atmosphere, relaxing.

The BRAND Steakhouse sits amidst the casino floor in the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas. The jewel of the space is a ceiling canopy made of numerous panels wrapped in custom printed fur creating a pixilated abstract cowhide pattern. Panels lit at various depths create a spectacular dusting glow that emanates from the ceiling. The marriage of texture and form coupled with height variations affords a constantly diversified spatial experience. The perception is individualized and ever-changing due to the magnetic patterning of the ceiling panels as well as the rich and ambient materials beneath that reinforce the sensation of being present within a diversified ecology.

As a complex and supernaturally glowing topography, the ceiling plane acts as a façade for the restaurant FIX and guides visitors into the space. The precision milled ceiling assembly comprises padouk wood slats which alternately converge into smooth surfaces and diverge to create openness and translucency. It is waving up and down creating generous and intimate spacial conditions, while invisibly including ‘eye shaped’ diffusers for air, sprinklers, lights, speakers: not a mere ceiling, but an intelligent and beautiful interface.

An enticing canyoning landscape is generated through undulating striations of seating, layered wall and bar, utilizing the generous 19‘ height capacity to produce a telescopic effect in depth. The horizontal layers are peeled from one another, creating variation in patterning, cantilevering and velocity.
This effect forms a visible invitation to the space, drawing the visitor in and gradually framing multiple spatial readings, keeping the guest inside. The canyon wall is embedded with a lighting effect which reveals a random pixilated pattern once one has journeyed inside the restaurant and looks back out.
