Reflections / Small Stuff
Reflections, the new book about UNStudio’s Small Stuff, presents a selection of interiors, installations, pavilions and products from the last 20 years. The 30 projects are organised in pairs which form each other’s mirror image, illustrating the idea of reflection and its manifold meanings at literal and symbolic levels. Scattered throughout the book are statements by Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos expressing the thoughts behind each design. These texts bear witness to the theoretical richness and versatility at the basis of UNStudio’s highly particular approach to architecture and design.
With Graphic design by Rein Steger, Proxi Design. With photographs by among others Arjan Benning, Iwan Baan and Christian Richters. |

Architecture Now! 6
Philip Jodidio This sixth installment of Architecture Now!, featuring buildings ranging in size from Terunobu Fujimoris tiny (6.07 square meters) Teahouse Tetsu to Norman Fosters gigantic Crystal Island project in Moscow (1.1 million square meters), provides an overview of what is happening right now in architecture, be it of traditional inspiration, or at the very edge of current thinking. What is the spirit of this moment, and how does architecture reflect the creativity as the first decade of the 21st century draws to a close? |

The Architecture of Variation
Edited by Lars Spuybroek Over the past decade, digital tools have radically transformed the design, practice and construction of architecture. But behind the superslick, photorealist renderings of projects that are never built is an entire body of design research that informs the latest innovations in design and construction. Research & Design: The Architecture of Variation, edited by a pioneer of the digital revolution, examines the hottest areas of architectural design. The book takes its cue from the practice of mass-customization, one of the most important design and retail trends of recent years, to consider how variations on the same design idea can be applied to a broad spectrum of architectural, engineering and construction solutions.
