CONTEMPORARY SYRIA
During the summer season and with "Damascus Arab Capital of Culture" that's running through the year 2008, Ayyam Gallery-Damascus is celebrating this event by highlighting Syrian art and artists under "CONTEMPORARY SYRIA" collective exhibition. A collection of 150 artworks by Ayyam emerging and established artists and also by old masters will be showcased all along the summer… New exhibited works each week… Vernissage: Saturday 21st of June, 2008. from 6pm – 8pm "Contemporary Syria" will run till 30 September, 2008

 First International Symposium of Sculpture in Damascus 2008

. Under the patronage of Dr. Riad Na'ssan Agha, Minister of Culture the First International Symposium of Sculpture was inaugurated in Damascus during the period from 07.07.2008 to 31.07.2008 through a gathering of the top Syrian, Arab and foreign artists to interact in artistic cultural dialogue in Damascus and produce concrete works of marble during the period of the symposium

 Interactive light floor

When a pedestrian walks across Rogier Sterk’s interactive light floor , his or her weight displaces fluid contained within the panel system , leaving “light print” for about one minute after contact.

The system may be constructed as an independent floor and can perform without the built-in light.

In this configuration, footprints allow light within an upper space to be visible from below.

The 220,000 square meter pedestrian-oriented Linked Hybrid complex, sited adjacent to the site of old city wall of Beijing, aims to counter the current urban developments in China by creating a new twenty-first century porous urban space, inviting and open to the public from every side.
